BF 109 Buchon Sounds Fantastic

A Piece of History
This footage shows a BF 109 engine start-up, taxi, and display by Walter Eichhorn. This 109 is a Spanish Messerschmitt 109 Buchon or Hispano Aviacion HA-1112 with German markings at the Airshow Breitscheid in 2010. A Rolls Royce Merlin 500 engine powers the plane.

We absolutely love the Buchon. Why itโs not the โrealโ 109, despite being the export model of the Bf 109G, with those Merline engines strapped to the front, it looks fantastic! Looking straight on, the plane looked like it was an early model of the P-40. It was partly due to the fact that at the time, almost everyone had that characteristic aerodynamic line.
