A US Army CH-47F Chinook helicopter was heavily damaged at Camp Buehring in Kuwait in what appears to have been an Iranian one-way drone strike, according to photos circulating from the base. No casualties have been reported.

Images from the scene show the helicopter’s cockpit area torn apart, with visible destruction to the forward rotor assembly and front blades. The extent of the damage suggests the aircraft was struck directly, or close enough that the blast crippled its most critical flight components. The absence of reported injuries indicates the aircraft was likely unoccupied at the time.

A Costly Hit

The CH-47F Chinook is one of the Army’s primary heavy-lift helicopters, used to move troops, equipment, ammunition, and supplies across the battlefield. Damage to the cockpit and forward rotor is particularly serious, as those sections house the flight controls, avionics, and structural components essential for the aircraft to operate safely.

A Vulnerable Hub

Camp Buehring serves as a key US military logistics and deployment hub in Kuwait, supporting operations across the broader region. A successful strike on a parked transport helicopter at such a facility highlights a growing vulnerability that military planners have been grappling with throughout the conflict.

The strike adds to a pattern of Iranian-linked attacks on US installations in the Gulf region, even as Operation Epic Fury continues to degrade Iranian military capabilities inside the country.
