Chinook Doing A Handbrake Turn

This is Too Awesome to Be Real

This footage shows a Chinook doing a ‘handbrake turn’ at Bournemouth Air Fest.

At first, we thought this was an RC- it looked too good to be real. Wouldn’t have thought the Chinook was light enough!

Then, we realized that the main thing that Chinooks are surprisingly maneuverable is the fact that they’re meant to carry Humvees. Thus, when they’re only carrying troops they can gain a lot of extra power, and one can put it to good use doing maneuvers.

We’re blown how incredibly heavy this heli is, and how awesome that maneuver it pulled off. That guy in the cockpit is definitely having the time of his life!
