If you’re looking for some pretty crazy cold start-up World War I airplane engines, then you need to watch this video.

For the planes, the notable ones are the Fokker Dr. I, a WWI fighter aircraft that saw widespread service in the spring of 1918, and the Avro 504 which was the first WWII biplane made by Avro Aircraft Company, and becoming the most produced aircraft of any kind that served in the First World War.

There’s also the mighty Gnome Monosoupape engine that features a clever arrangement of internal transfer ports and single pushrod operated exhaust valve to replace the many moving parts in most rotary engines at that time, and was the most reliable engines in that era.
