Inside The RAF’s Abandoned Avro Shackleton

A Blast from the Past
In this footage, we get to see what’s inside the remnants of the Avro Shackleton which is the military version of the Avro Lincoln aircraft.

This plane goes back to WWII, and its airframe was designed to do anti-submarine patrols in the North Atlantic. It was flown out to Malta and was doing operations in the Mediterranean.

The Shackleton eventually developed engine issues that were too expensive to repair and replace, which eventually caused it to become a training airplane and has stayed there in a UN buffer zone in Cyprus ever since.

It’s definitely a really interesting aircraft to look at because of its heritage. However, it’s now in a woeful state. Hopefully, it can one day be taken on as a restoration project in the future.
