The Longest “BRRRRT” Ever Caught on Camera?
A combat video filmed from the ground in Iraq captures a rare and striking moment. High above the clouds, a Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II appears briefly, its silhouette cutting across the sky. Seconds later, the unmistakable sound follows.

The GAU-8/A Avenger cannon opens fire. The signature “BRRRRT” echoes across the landscape, but this time it does not stop. The burst continues longer than typically heard, suggesting a sustained strafing run against an Iranian-backed PMF militia target.
The A-10 was designed for close air support, built around its 30 mm cannon. Standard bursts are usually short to conserve ammunition and maintain accuracy. In this case, the extended firing sequence indicates either a large target area or a deliberate effort to saturate a position.
