Pilot Hospitalized After Plane Crash in Pembroke Pines

A small plane crash near North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida, sent a pilot to the hospital on Sunday afternoon.

The single-engine Montaer MC-01 experimental aircraft lost power shortly after takeoff around 2:20 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane crashed and flipped onto its roof roughly a quarter mile from the airport.

The pilot, the sole occupant, managed to exit the aircraft and was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital with minor injuries. He is reported to be in stable condition.

Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue responded to the scene to address a minor fuel leak.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
