Messerschmitt Me 262 Makes a Grand Return at EAA AirVenture 2025

At EAA AirVenture 2025 in Oshkosh, the Military Aviation Museum’s faithful Messerschmitt Me 262 reproduction made a dramatic appearance. The jet had flown over from Virginia Beach before it performed a solo routine that left onlookers awestruck.

This particular Me 262 isn’t an original—none of the German-built Me 262s from WWII are flying—rather it is a replica built with an original airframe for reference, but fitted with modern, more reliable engines.

Even as it taxied, the aircraft projected presence. The replica holds so many of the Me 262’s design cues that it invokes the same mixture of admiration and respect as the original warbirds.

Most impressive was how stable and elegant it looked in flight: no jerky control inputs, no worrying yaw or buffeting; it handled like a well-honed machine, one tuned not just for looks but for performance. Its climb, roll-outs, and final approach all showed that this replica is more than a display piece—it’s flying history!
