TurnandBurnAviation had the best Christmas gift for his viewers. Recorded in 4K quality, the pilot can be seen starting a P-51D Mustang before taking it for a joyride.
The Mustang in the video is none other than the P-51D “Cincinnati Miss,” which was built in 1944 for the Royal Australian Air Force.
It was introduced too late to see action during the war, but it did accumulate 615 flying hours primarily for training RAAF pilots until 1953.
The American Aeronautics Corporation purchased the aircraft in 1954 and imported it back to the United States.
Finally, in 2005, the technicians of the Tri-State Warbird Museum was able to restore the warbird to airworthy condition.
Because of them, we can now see the Cincinnati Miss in the colors of the 353rd Fighter Group, 350th Fighter Squadron based in Raydon, England in 1944-1945.
