Shocking Footage: F-16 Fighter Jet Crashing During Airshow Rehearsal
A Tragic Rehearsal
On the evening of August 28, 2025, tragedy struck when a Polish Air Force F-16 from the elite Tiger Demo Team crashed during preparations for the Radom Air Show. The accident occurred around 19:25 local time at Radom Airport, with video showing the jet entering a steep descent over the runway, failing to recover, and striking the ground in a fiery explosion.

Emergency services launched a rescue operation immediately, but initial reports confirmed that the pilot had not ejected before impact. Despite the rapid response, the crash proved fatal. No civilians were injured.

Remembering the Pilot
The pilot was identified as Major Maciej โSlabโ Krakowian, an experienced aviator with over 1,000 hours in the F-16. Based at the 31st Tactical Air Base in Poznaล-Krzesiny, he served as both an instructor and a member of the Polish F-16 Tiger Demo Team, representing his country at home and abroad. Just days earlier, the team had performed at an international airshow in Amiens, France.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Wลadysลaw Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed the loss: โA Polish Army pilot was killed โ an officer who always served the Fatherland with dedication and great courage. I pay tribute to his memory and extend my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.โ Tributes also came from fellow air show teams across Europe, reflecting the respect Krakowian had earned among his peers.

The Radom Air Show
The Radom Air Show, scheduled to begin on August 30, is one of Central Europeโs largest aviation events, drawing tens of thousands of visitors. This yearโs lineup was set to feature the UKโs Red Arrows, Greeceโs Zeus F-16 Demo Team, and solo displays from the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale, alongside Polandโs own F-16 Tiger Demo.
While the event is meant to showcase Polandโs aviation talent and NATO cooperation, the crash has cast a somber tone. Organizers temporarily suspended rehearsals, and questions remain as to whether the full program will continue.
