WW2: Above & Below / YouTube
The Skagit Airshow 2025 brought together aviation fans of all ages with a mix of old and new. Held in Burlington, Washington, the event featured vintage aircraft, modern technology, and high-speed action that drew large crowds under clear skies.
WWII Aircraft Take to the Skies
One of the main highlights was the return of several restored World War II aircraft. The familiar shape of the P-51 Mustang was seen flying in tight formation with a PBY Catalina, giving the audience a look at how different roles were filled during the war. These aircraft were once used in missions across Europe and the Pacific. Now, they serve as flying museums, reminding people of their design and purpose.
Other warbirds, including a B-25 Mitchell, made passes over the airfield, with the sounds of their engines turning heads toward the sky. Veterans and families watched as these planes flew just as they did nearly 80 years ago.

Jet-Powered Speed on the Ground
In a sharp contrast to the vintage planes, the Shockwave Jet Truck delivered a ground-level display of speed and power. Its loud engines and massive flame trail excited the crowd, especially younger spectators. Reaching over 300 mph, the vehicle roared down the runway, showing the raw energy of jet propulsion.
Alongside the Shockwave, modern aerobatic planes performed loops, spins, and dives. These stunts demonstrated how far flight control and pilot skill have advanced, rounding out a day of historical and modern airpower.
