Absolutely Glorious!
Seven full-size Fokker Dr.1 triplane replicas put on a stunning display at the Classic Fighters Airshow at Omaka Aerodrome in Blenheim, New Zealand, back in 2007. These famous World War I fighters are best known as the aircraft flown by Manfred von Richthofen, the legendary “Red Baron.” Together, they represent seven of the triplanes from his Jasta 11 squadron as it appeared in April 1918.
That rough, growling engine rumble is pure music to the ears, and when they roar past with that powerful whooshing sound they make when they’re flying past you. While they’re replicas, they’re still just as wonderful. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
