Simply Glorious!
The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was a carrier-based fighter that served mainly during World War II and the Korean War. Demand for the aircraft quickly outpaced Vought’s ability to build them, so production was also carried out by Goodyear and Brewster. Goodyear-built versions were called the FG, while Brewster’s were designated F3A.
From the first prototype delivered to the U.S. Navy in 1940 to the final aircraft delivered to France in 1953, a total of 12,571 Corsairs were built in 16 different models. This gave the F4U the longest production run of any U.S. piston-engine fighter, lasting from 1942 to 1953. We love that in this demo, there’s no music or narration- just the pure sound of the radial engine and the props cutting through the air!
