Lieutenant Colonel Wilbur Britton once served as a test pilot for the US Army Air Corps in 1940. During WWII, Britton would eventually work on a mission that changed history forever.
According to his son-in-law, Barry Kelly, one of his duties was to test the backup plane as they were getting ready for the atomic bomb.ย ย

โHe was a part of the most major thing to happen in our lifetimeโ
His long and impactful career led to him working with companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin after the war.

This year, on September 14, 2023, will mark Brittonโs 105th birthday. The WWII pilot, who once operated B-17s and B-24s, is looking to celebrate his birthday with his family later this month.
