WWII Vet Celebrates 105th Birthday While Reflecting On His Career

Lieutenant Colonel Wilbur Britton once served as a test pilot for the US Army Air Corps in 1940. During WWII, Britton would eventually work on a mission that changed history forever.

According to his son-in-law, Barry Kelly, one of his duties was to test the backup plane as they were getting ready for the atomic bomb.ย ย

His long and impactful career led to him working with companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin after the war.

This year, on September 14, 2023, will mark Brittonโ€™s 105th birthday. The WWII pilot, who once operated B-17s and B-24s, is looking to celebrate his birthday with his family later this month.

When asked what his advice was to live a long life, the veteran simply said,

โ€œDo what you want to do.โ€
