A 72-ton Beast?

During the Second World War, the German Tiger Tank was known to be sturdy and reliable – partly because it weighed a whopping 72 tons!

The weight alone should tell you just how thick its armor was. In addition, its armor was slanted, making it harder to penetrate with explosives.

Regardless, the US Army had one trick up their sleeves. To take it down, they had to knock down its tracks to paralyze it. Then, they’d go to the back of the tank and knock it out from the rear.

Just be careful though! The Tiger Tank still has its infamous Swivel 88 – an 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun derived from the 8.8 cm Flak 36 that could knock out an entire platoon in a second.

Thankfully, the US Army prepared tactics for the troops to effectively take down these Tiger Tanks.
