The Awesome Vulcan XH558 at Beachy Head Cliffs

Final Farewell

The 2015 Eastbourne Airshow delivered one of the most memorable Vulcan flypasts ever recorded. Against the 500 foot white cliffs of Beachy Head, Avro Vulcan XH558 made a low, powerful pass with pilot Kev Rumens bringing the aircraft in close to spectators gathered along the clifftops.

For many, it was a rare moment where people stood above the aircraft, looking down as it thundered past the lighthouse and out toward Eastbourne Beach. Nothing tops a fly-by like that – specially with such a gorgeous warbird like the Vulcan!

With the aircraft retiring later that year, the flypast became a final farewell. Just a plane, some said, but a remarkable one!
