“If I Get It, I Get It…”

That pretty much sums up the risk these veterans took while they were in service. Just listen to how he dealt with being shelled and gassed, you can tell that 106-year-old WWI Veteran J. Laurence Moffitt was a total bad ass. It took a lot of guts not to put on your gas mask and this guy didn’t even go medical for it. How that’s for a great war story, kids? But seriously, this is something we should all remember: war is never easy, never was, never will be. Even you’re sitting comfortably at home, watching TV, eating potato chips — the memories will haunt you.

It’s hard to imagine what kind of life they lived during the war — how everyday is a battle for survival and going back to their families. It was tough to say the least. And perhaps the best way to describe how they dealt with all of it is what Mr. Moffitt said: “And… we lived with that.”
