BREAKING | USAF Thunderbird Pilot Crashed Into Field

No Word Yet On What Went Wrong.
Maj. Alex Turner, a pilot in one of the most elite squadrons in the world, the Thunderbirds, safely ejected after his jet encountered trouble during an air show. The crash occurred just outside of Colorado Springs, CO, following of all things a U.S. Air Force Academy commencement ceremony.
Attended by President Obama, he later shook the pilot’s hand, thanking him for his commitment and service.
“What I heard was a big boom…“I ran outside. Three or four degrees to the left and that jet would have hit our house.”-Justin Payne | Eyewitness
Luckily, the pilot was able to punch out in time and there were no casualties. The ill fated F-16 landed in a field badly damaged but in one piece. Master Sgt. Chrissy Best told media that the pilot intentionally veered the jet away from populated areas and toward the field before considering ejecting.
The Air Force stated they will perform a thorough investigation to find the cause of the crash.
