Gun Footage of Corsair Attacking Ships
YouTube / WW2 Marine Carrier Aviation
An Interesting Take
This footage features an F4U Corsair gun camera attacking ships and bombing targets during World War II. The clip was edited in a reel of marine VMTB training footage. While we’re not exactly sure when it was filmed, it’s an interesting watch nonetheless.
F4U Corsairs are American fighter planes that saw service mainly during WWII as well as during the Korean War. It’s considered one of the most recognizable aircraft in history because it features a unique inverted gull wing design.
It’s also powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine because its developers wanted to build a fighter plane with unparalleled power and performance. During the war, Corsairs managed to shoot down at least 2,140 aircraft.
