Mad Max At Willow Run Airport
Lou Horschel gave the spectators at the Thunder Over Michigan Airshow a sight to remember. The pilot performed an aerobatic routine while operating the P-51D “Mad Max”. Luckily, us viewers at home get to watch the routine without the announcer or any kind of music.
The P-51D Mad Max is actually owned by Louis Horschel himself. He was born and raised in Western New York and started flying at an early age. Today, Horschel currently has over 1,000 hours of flight time with his Mustang alone. He has also flown in numerous airshows using his iconic warbird, blessing everyone with the sound of the P-51’s vintage engine.
In other airshows, the talented pilot pulled off barrel rolls, four-point rolls, Cuban eights, Split-S Reversals, and a whole lot more.
