It’s been decades since the end of World War Two. Regardless, the age-old question still exists today. Which sounds the best? The Rolls-Royce Merlin? Or the Rolls-Royce Griffon?
In the video posted by Wonkabar007, we finally get to see these two engines side-by-side to compare their engine sound in a Spitfire during a flyby.
From the video alone, it’s easy to spot how different these engines sound. The Griffon offers a more powerful sound, almost like a growl as some would say. In comparison, the Merlin-powered Spitfire had more of a “purr” which reminded everyone how much of a workhorse this engine was at its peak!
