In this short clip, we get to see a P-51 pilot firing a short burst of his .50-cal machine guns on a German Bf 109 from above. The pilot’s burst was very effective and ignited the 109’s fuel tank as a result.

You can tell how seasoned this P-51 pilot was. The groupings of his shots were perfect – almost dead-center, as he lit up the opposing fighter quite accurately.

P-51s were armed with six .50-cal Browning machine guns with a total of 1,840 rounds. No wonder they were seen as one of the best fighters of the war!
