A New Ride
General James Stewart was a national treasure known for his work in film and his patriotism during the war. Stewart was the first big American movie star who enlisted in the army during WWII.
One of his biggest movies is ‘Strategic Air Command,’ which won Best Motion Picture in 1955. Being a military aviation film, the movie featured several iconic warbirds, such as the B-36 Peacemaker and B-47 Stratojet.ย
Watching the B-36 fly over the stadium earlier in the movie is sure to give you goosebumps. Its wide wingspan could be seen in all its glory during that scene!

The last scene shows the newly-built B-47 taking off, complete with a dramatic musical score to set the scene. It must have been a shock to see the developments that the B-47 had made when compared to the B-36!
