Up Close And Personal.

We’ve been doing this for a while and we haven’t seen too many U-2s landing from the vantage point you’ll see in this video. The cameraman positioned himself right underneath the glide slope and got a fantastic shot of the Dragon Lady screaming over him.

As for where we got this, we’ll give him another shout out. The YouTube channel bobsurgranny has been supplying us with some truly incredible shots of some of our favorite planes for some time now. He seems to know exactly when and where these rare beauties will fly and never fails to capture them in a professional manner. You know what we’re talking about. How many seemingly great videos have you started watching before the camera started shaking making you miss the best part? That’ll never happen on this channel.

As for this plane, well, it’s the CIA’s favorite U-2, nicknamed Dragon Lady. Introduced in 1955, this reconnaissance aircraft can fly at over 70,000 feet (21,400 m) and gather intelligence in any weather conditions. As for the engines you’ll hear screaming, they use a single General Electric F118-101 jet engine which give it 19,000 lbs. of thrust. Click on the video to see and hear it for yourself.
