Spectacular Plane, Awesome Sound

The Vought F2U Corsair is well-known for its excellent speed, ruggedness, and firepower. This American fighter aircraft served both during WWII and the Korean War, excelling as a fighter and an attack aircraft to support ground forces. It first took off the skies on May 1940.

Pilot Steve Hinton fires up this F4U-1A Corsair during a return trip to the Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino California after an airworthy week at the Reno Championship Air Races at Stead Airport, Reno, Nevada. The F4U-1A is currently the world’s oldest flying Corsair.

In this footage, we get to see this warbird during startup wings down, and take off. Not to mention it has one of the best motor sounds we’ve ever heard.
