One Expensive Exercise
The Vought F-8 Crusader is a single-engine, supersonic jet aircraft that was known as the “Last of the Gunfighters,” because it was the last US fighter that had guns as its primary weapon.
In this video, we get to see F-8 Crusaders shooting down a Ryan Firebee target drone on a display at Point Mugu in July 1963. Personally, we think that the Crusaders look magnificent and ominous at the same time tracking past that carrier, almost looking like a pair of air sharks that smell blood from their target.
Well, that sure wasone expensive exercise! And maybe that drone might probably be lying at the bottom of Point Magu up to this day!
