A Spitfire-Fw190 tail chase was supposed to be a thing of the past. Yet that didn’t stop Rob Davies and Klaus Plasa to recreate what the pilots of WWII used to do during the war.

As per usual though, their day at the Hangar 10 Fly In 2019 started with a preflight oil checking/heating and a manual engine crank to release oil from the lower cylinders. You gotta be careful with these old warbirds!

Then, both pilots climbed aboard their respective planes: Klaus Plasa operated the Focke Wulf 190 A8, while Rob Davies piloted the Supermarine Spitfire Mk. 18.

You can hear them start up their engines @ 1:40.

The Fw-190 took off low and fast, with the Spitfire in quick pursuit. Both planes can be seen performing different maneuvers to “shake” their opponents. Unfortunately for the Fw-190, a deep blue Corsair joined the fight in the end!

Now that’s art!
