This little gem comes to us from Australia. The reason we know that is because we initially thought we couldn’t understand what these guys were saying and after a short while realized we actually did. Sorry, small accent joke right there.
As for the video, it’s one for the books. We’re sure this happened before, but it’s the only one of its kind we saw caught on video. When you watch it just try to put yourself in the crew’s shoes. They were probably clenching beyond belief.

Taken from the vantage point of the ATC tower, the commentary makes it even better. As the fully loaded Il-76 starts taking off, it speeds down the runway further and further with no indication of taking off. The guys in the control tower started poking fun at the plane and the crew and with their accents, it’s even more endearing than ever.
The plane did finally take off, but seriously, it used EVERY INCH of that runway. Pretty close call if you ask us.
