The Moment Japan Airlines Plane Explodes on Landing in Tokyo

A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday at Tokyo’s Haneda airport as a Japan Airlines (JAL) plane, carrying hundreds of passengers, collided with a Japanese Coast Guard plane upon landing. The collision resulted in a devastating fire that claimed the lives of five people.
Fortunately, all 379 individuals aboard JAL flight 516, including eight infants, were safely evacuated, but the second aircraft, operated by the Japanese Coast Guard, experienced fatalities.
Following the collision and subsequent fire, emergency evacuation procedures were initiated on the JAL plane, with passengers using emergency slides to escape the inferno. Firefighters battled the flames with over 100 fire trucks dispatched to the scene.
During a press conference, Japan Airlines’ Senior Vice President Noriyuki Aoki stated that four passengers were taken to hospitals, and no additional injuries were reported. The airline is actively participating in the investigation to determine responsibility for the tragic crash, as stated by Tadayuki Tsutsumi, JAL’s senior vice president of corporate safety and security.
