Russischer Sternmotor – Russian Radial Engine Start and Run

What a Mechanical Beauty
This video features a Russian radial engine start-up and run of an Antonov at a traditional tractor meeting in Burkhardtsdorf. Because it was a very cold and damp morning, issues were encountered during the initial start-up.
Fortunately, it still ran quite smoothly once it warmed up a bit. The sound of the engine was deafening and typically emits a big smoke during the start-up because a huge amount of oil goes into the lower cylinder which is then burned.
Overall, itโs an awesome engine that looks and sounds amazing. Got to say, thereโs nothing quite like that radial engine sound. Listening to the raw sound of this mechanical beauty gives us goosebumps. Imagine how great this would sound if one could hear it live.
