What An Awesome Plane!

The Fieseler Fi 156 was a liaison German plane that first flew in 1936.

Its nickname, “Storch”, was taken from the lengthy legs of the plane’s main landing gear which gives it an appearance of a somewhat long-legged, big-winged bird.

A truly remarkable feature of this plane is its ability to serve as a short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft. It can take off in less than two hundred feet flying at 25 mph and then land within 50 feet of touchdown.

In this footage, we get to see the Flying Heritage Collection’s Fieseler Storch put on a great show in front of a crowd at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. Such an awesome plane! There aren’t a lot of these planes featured in air shows!
