Luftwaffe Day.

Luftwaffe Day comes but once a year at the Flying Heritage Museum and what a day it is. Huge crowds have gathered at Paine Field Airport for the annual celebration of German Aircraft and to see them fly. The German planes joining the show include a Bf 109 Messerschmitt, Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and a Fieseler Fi 156. The Bf 109 and Fw 190 are fan favorites while the Fi 156 is a rarity among air shows. These planes represent a piece of history providing Allied pilots with a steep challenge in the skies over Europe.

“The planes within the Flying Heritage Collection were created at a time when aeronautical discovery had evolved to aviation mastery. Finely crafted by distinguished design bureaus with leading technologies of the 1930s and 1940s, the main emphasis of the collection includes combat aircraft from World War II.”

Restored to flying condition these planes have gone from decorative pieces to functional warbirds. The crowds are big for a reason, they know exactly how amazing these planes are when they go up. Check out the spectacular footage of these Luftwaffe fighters.
