Such a Beauty!

In this video, we get to see the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress ‘Sally B’, starting up its engines. The starboard outer engine initially backfired, sprouting dramatic flames during the Imperial War Museum Duxford’s – ‘The Americans’ Flying Day in July 2023. It’s also seen alongside the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt ‘Nellie B’, G-THUN.

Sally B was built as a Boeing B-17G-105-VE c/n 8693 and was accepted by the USAAF on June 19, 1945. However, it was too late to see war service. The plane was then converted for training purposes and was re-designated as the TB-17G.
