Legendary Spitfire RC Model

A huge CARF model of a Supermarine Spitfire was spotted at the Bomberfield event last year.

The 1:4.2 scale model has breathtaking flying characteristics and an impeccable design, as seen in the video. Its extremely light fuselage makes aerobatic maneuvers effortless. This allows the aircraft to smoothly pull off barrel rolls, loops, and slow passes with extended flaps.

This particular Spitfire uses an 85.99cc DA-85 engine complete with a 24×12 three-bladed propeller. One of the “big” changes in this model is its cowling. The CARF-models website states that the cowling was lengthened, matching the Mark IX version. It also elongated the nose, evening out the plane’s center of gravity.

Eric Babineaux is very lucky to assemble and fly the RC model of this spectacular aircraft. His $2,000 plane is worth every penny!
