It feels like nothing would top this takeoff scene from the Memphis Belle movie released in 1990. For those who don’t know yet, the Memphis Belle is a famous American B-17 that gained legendary status during WWII. The crew was one of the first to complete the 25 missions needed to complete their service.

To nobody’s surprise, their story was later made into a movie – and one of its most memorable scenes includes the B-17 taking off.

The scene starts with the crew preparing the plane for takeoff. Its engines roared as the plane shook while moving down the runway. The tension in the scene is palpable as the crew members check and double-check their instruments and communication devices.

Then, finally, it takes off along with several more bombers following suit. Viewers couldn’t help but feel awe and respect for the brave men who once flew these planes. For many, it serves as a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of those who fought during the war.
