Restored M26

The fact that this vehicle is called the “Dragon Wagon” tells us everything we need to know about the armored tank transporter.

In WWII, these 6×6 recovery vehicles had a crew of seven and could carry up to 60 tons of cargo. Furthermore, the vehicle had dual winches to aid in recovering damaged Sherman tanks.

For armament, the crew had to make do with a single 12.7mm Browning machine gun above the main cabin. However, the vehicle did have an armor thickness of 6mm on the sides and 19mm on the front. In terms of power, the M26 had an 18L Hall Scott 240hp engine which enabled it to reach 26mph.

In the video below, you can hear its powerful engine as the vehicle is paraded during the Pas-de-Calais Libéré in France this year.
